Ex Machina Intro Titles
Animation : Cintia Landaver
Concept: Cintia Landaver
Year: 2025
This title sequence explores the tension between humanity and artificial intelligence through a stark, futuristic visual language. Inspired by the film’s themes of surveillance, identity, and synthetic life, the design uses metallic surfaces, digital textures, neon color accents, and fragmented compositions to create a sense of unease and precision. The pacing and imagery are meant to feel both clinical and poetic, reflecting the film’s blend of technology, desire, and control.
Mood board
The moodboard informed a visual system built around contrast: organic versus mechanical, light versus shadow, and human form versus machine structure. The main title combines sleek typography with a dark, high-tech aesthetic to reinforce the film’s cold, intelligent atmosphere. Together, the sequence establishes a world that feels immersive, minimal, and slightly unsettling — mirroring the psychological complexity at the center of the story.
Animatic
I first developed an animatic to plan the pacing, timing, and structure of the title sequence. This allowed me to test the flow of shots and transitions early on, refine the overall rhythm, and make sure the final animation supported the mood of the film.
